Congratulations Holy Trinity Catholic School Joan Lenard Awardees!

The Joan Lenard Award is given in remembrance of Joan Lenard who taught at Holy Trinity Catholic School from 1991 to 2005. Joan was a woman of prayer and integrity, an individual who lived a life of Christian values. Because she believed strongly in serving children, two eighth grade students are presented annually with this award, designed in accordance with Joan’s husband, Deacon Tony Lenard (pictured below) and their children, Stephen and Katherine. The Joan Lenard Award acknowledges students who have developed Christian values in their own lives—displayed through the qualities of Faith, Service, Integrity, Honesty and Scholarship.

Congratulations to this year's awardees: Dominic Cerino and Julia Raven Leong!

Alumni SpotlightMaya Shelby.jpg

Holy Trinity Catholic School Class of 2015 alumna Maya Shelby is accomplishing great things since her time at our school.

Maya joined the Air Force National Guard in 2018—the beginning of her senior year of high school.

She went on to attend College of DuPage for one year—where she received her Associate’s Degree with Honors, while concurrently serving in Active Duty during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She will be a senior at Illinois State University this fall and will graduate next May (again with Honors) with her Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing, boasting an impressive 4.0 GPA. Maya has already applied to law school; after she completes her studies, she plans to go into Active Duty in the Air Force as an officer.

As if that’s not enough, Maya is in the process of publishing her first children’s book, the product of an assignment that she submitted for her Children’s Literature course!

The Holy Trinity School community is extremely proud of her focus and commitment to our country, her studies and herself. We pray God blesses her as she continues to do great things!
